Out-of-home Respite
The out-of-home respite service is based at our Corinda facility. The objective of the service is to provide an overnight respite for children with physical disabilities, which is an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for both the client and their family. The facility provides support for six clients at any one time and provides twenty-four hour care. The respite service offers single rooms, which are air-conditioned for client comfort as well as a range of range of up-to-date computer and games equipment.
Disability support staff provide all personal care support as well as organising meals and recreational activities. Emphasis is placed on client friendship networks with every effort being made to ensure clients are able to attend respite with their friends.
Respite is available on weekends and during school holidays. Families are able to apply for entry into the out-of-home respite service by contacting the Respite Services Supervisor. However, access to the service is reliant on vacancies and the ability of the service to meet individual client need.
