Neuromuscular Clinic

The Neuromuscular clinics are held twice a month under the direction of our Paediatric Neurologists, Dr Geoff Wallace from the Mater and Dr Kate Sinclair from the Royal Children’s Hospital, and the MontroseAccess therapists. We have been fortunate to have intermittent visits from a Geneticist and it is hoped a Dietician will soon be able to make regular visits.

The clinic is for MontroseAccess clients who have a neuromuscular disorder and for newly referred eligible clients who have not yet been registered as MontroseAccess clients.

More than seventy families are now accessing the Neuromuscular Clinic The families have stated a preference for the clinics at MontroseAccess because of the family centred approach, the co ordination of medical and therapy teams and the practical aspects such as babysitting for siblings, space and activities when waiting, the welcoming environment and stress free parking.

The MontroseAccess Board supports the clinic and in order for it to become fully established and for future growth, it will need external funding to improve administrative support and provision of other professional services which are important to children with neuromuscular conditions.
