Key Facts

MontroseAccess was founded in Brisbane in 1933 to serve Queensland children with disabilities and to support their families. Learn more about our past on the history page.

Our organisation is a registered not-for-profit entity – without any religious or political affiliation. We are a registered company governed by an independent board of directors. Our main office is located in Corinda, Brisbane and two regional offices are located on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts. Our annual Organisational Profile will provide you with more details on our daily operations.

The Queensland Government recognises the importance of our work and provide approximately 52% of our funding through Disability Services Queensland and Education Queensland. Other funding is provided through the generous support of individual and corporate donors, as well as sponsorship and grants from Trusts and Foundations.

Our staff are employed in various service provision areas of respite, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work, orthotics, recreation, marketing, administration and maintenance.

MontroseAccess currently provides services to over 600 children and young adults living throughout Queensland. Some of the main towns and cities where we travel to provide our outreach services include:

Services and programs are offered from birth to children who have been identified with one or more disability. Each client is assessed on an individual basis via a referral system. Where there is another organisation which provides condition specific services, we only provide complementary services that are not otherwise available. Consequently, we will not duplicate services which can be provided by other organisations.

We currently treat children with numerous forms of physically disabling conditions, the most prevalent of which include:

We also work with a number of children with rare conditions where the availability of assistance would otherwise be very limited or unavailable altogether.
