Social Workers at MontroseAccess aim to support families to maximise their capacity to fulfil their caring role for their child by:
- Providing information about and assistance to access appropriate community resources such as government benefits, housing, respite
- Providing literature and practical resources that relate to issues such as emotional processes, management techniques, siblings needs
- Assistance with funding submissions
- Advocacy and consultation with other service providers such as schools, support agencies and hospitals
- Confidential counselling and support for children and families in areas such as adjustment and change, loss and grief, self-esteem, stress management and coping strategies, parenting strategies, relationship issues
- Facilitating peer support and networking for children and their caregivers and siblings through group activities, coffee mornings, parent retreats and special event days
