About us

MontroseAccess provides therapy, respite and recreation services to more than 600 children and young adults with physical disabilities throughout Queensland.

Through our four metropolitan offices and regional outreach program we provide varied and holistic services to clients with varying degrees of disability; some of the most common being neuromuscular conditions, juvenile arthritis, acquired brain injury and arthrogryposis. Our clients age from toddlers (through our Early Childhood Program) to young adults (the Lifestyle & Leisure Program).

MontroseAccess is an independent not-for-profit organisation without political or religious affiliation. We do not duplicate services provided by condition specific organisations – we provide services to those young people who would not otherwise be able to obtain them.

Principles of Practice

  • Family centred
We work closely with children’s families and carers and involve them in decision making. We recognise the type of support, and the way it happens, will be different for every child and their family. We respect each family’s right to make choices about services.
  • Community based
We work in and support people in the child’s natural environments, so that goals and activities can be integrated into everyday routines.
  • Team approach
We work in interdisciplinary teams comprised of allied health professionals, social workers, psychologists, recreation officers and an orthotist. This ensures we are all working towards the same goals.
